Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I expect during the session?
During your initial session, you can discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you may have. Our valued clinicians strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel open to discussing all relevant concerns. They will work with you in a collaborative manner to complete all necessary steps which can include a thorough clinical interview, as well as a testing and feedback session which can offer diagnostic information and specialized recommendations.
2. How long does the evaluation process take?
The duration of evaluation appointment varies depending on the referral question, tests administered and additional supplemental information available. Initial appointments can last anywhere from one to three hours. If additional information is needed (i.e. additional records, school observation, etc.) that will be discussed at the time of the initial appointment. Once all information is collected, the final report usually takes about one to three weeks to be completed.
3. Is the evaluation process confidential?
Yes, the entire evaluation process is confidential. Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of psychological services, and your privacy is paramount to us. Our clinicians adhere to strict professional and ethical guidelines to ensure the confidentiality of your personal information and the content discussed during evaluation process.
4. How do I know if a evaluation is right for me or my child?
Deciding to pursue a comprehensive psychological evaluation for you or your child is a personal choice. Recommendations for an evaluation are often made via pediatricians, teachers and school psychologists, attorneys or current therapists when challenges occur either at home, at school/work, or in the community. Our clinicians are skilled in addressing many concerns and will work with you to determine if a evaluation is the right next step.
